Each year, thousands of bodybuilders, martial artists, and fitness enthusiasts from around the world converge upon Columbus, Ohio for a weekend exposition bearing the name of bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Arnold Sports Festival began in Columbus as the Arnold Classic in 1989. Arnold Schwarzenegger was one of the most famous body builders in the world during the 1970s and 1980s.He created the Arnold Classic to showcase bodybuilding. The Arnold Classic has evolved into one of the premiere bodybuilding events in the world. This competition continues to take place at the Columbus Convention Center.

Over the years, Schwarzenegger has added other events. The Arnold Classic continues to crown a male bodybuilder as its winner, but now Ms. International, a woman’s bodybuilding event, also takes place, as well as the Arnold Fitness Training Seminar, the Fitness International Competition, the Arnold Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships, the Arnold Strongest Man Competition, the World Powerlifting Organization World Championship, the Arnold Fitness Fashion Show, the Arnold Classic Armwrestling Challenge, the World Record Bench Press Challenge, the Arnold World Gracie Submission Championships, and the Arnold Traditional Karate World Cup Championship, among other events.

With the addition of other competitions to the Arnold Classic, the combined event became known as the Arnold Fitness Expo in 1993. It is now named the USA Arnold Sports Festival.

In 2005, more than ten thousand athletes participated in the various competitions, competing for more than 400,000 dollars in prize money. Seventy-five thousand people attended the Arnold Fitness Expo. Six hundred vendors also sold their wares at the show.

You might also consider sharing the link for this appeal among your club and network of Taekwondo Colleagues.

Please join me in making a difference? I’m raising money in aid of Australian Red Cross and every donation will help.Your donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery helps our emergency teams to do their work – including the bushfires we’re currently seeing across Australia.

The generosity of the Taekwondo community has the power to have a positive impact on the lives of so many Australian’s tragically affected by these disastrous events.

It warms my heart to see al over social media the great work many of you are doing, and I am sure there are others with little fanfare doing their bit.

We will also organize a couple of other initiatives which will contribute to the target. Keep an eye out.

Note, although we set up and are promoting the fundraiser, we are not receiving any of the donated money at all – that is collected by GoFundMe and passed on directly to the Red Cross.

For those who have been more directly impacted, we wish you strength and hope that your losses have only been material.

TRULY TAEKWONDO FOR ALL – NO POLITICS

When taking over the running of the Taekwondo program on behalf of the Arnold Classic / Sports Festival in 2017, my objective was simple, to create the most inclusive environment where all Taekwondo could come together and showcase our great martial art, in all its variations, to the public.

We are thrlled that in such a short time it has grown to now be able to stage the first ever, Arnold Classic Taekwondo World Championships.

We welcome all Taekwondo practitioners from around the globe, no matter what style, school or organization; no matter what age or belt colour; no matter what level of physical ability ……to come along and take part in this historic and unique event, and helps u make it a memorable one.

Arnolds 2019 a huge success

The 2019 Arnold Classic Taekwondo Championships, or affectionately known as the Arnolds, was a huge success. The event was held as part of the Arnolds Sports Festival Australia in Melbourne on March 16th.

With over 200 participants, we were not only the largest martial arts event of the festival, but also the largest sport.

Congratulations to event organizer, Master Michael Muleta, on once again co-ordinating a large and diverse group of people, from across multiple organizations, to work co-operatively to pull off a great event.

arnolds

Participants came from far and wide, with ITF, WT and independent schools travelling from across Australia and New Zealand to take part.

Events included both ITF and WT sparring, ITF Patterns, WT Poomse, Self Defense Demos and Team Demos.

We also featured for the first time, the inclusion of a Special Needs category.

The ‘Arnolds has now become an annual ‘must attend’ for many Taekwondo schools’ events calendars, with many already asking about the 2020 event.

The highlight, of course, was when the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, came to say hello to all the competitors and watch some spectacular martial arts action.
